“Home as a verb” calls for imagining home as a fluid process and an incessant desire to connect. Here participants crafted personal artifacts, mapped their evolving relationship with their surroundings and shared communal rituals and stories in a safe space. The exhibition celebrates the collective resilience and cultural richness of Boston's Chinatown, inviting all to engage in the process of re-defining home.
Over the past six months, a journey that reimagined 'home' as an active, dynamic process unfolded around Boston's Chinatown, where senior residents engaged in a dynamic artists-in-residence program hosted by Pao Arts Center with Vermilion Theater. This initiative, aligned with the vision of Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, harnessed the transformative power of multi-sensory artistic mediums including sound, visual arts, and movement to bridge generational gaps, celebrate cultural heritage, and foster a profound sense of community.
